Therefore, I think the best solution here is to go back to Windows 7 unless you wish to forever be trying to solve problems like this. In addition to the issues above, it also ran slower in general, there were compatibility issues with old software, and startup took a long time, compared to my windows 8.1 toshiba which was upgraded to windows 10 and compared to win7 on this computer.
